What is the meaning of community ownership?

Answer:
Community ownership here means the smallest unit of ownership it is a registered cultural group based in Canada from the Southern Cameroons. These cultural groups decide and define the constitution of the General Assembly, from which the board of directors is created. Ownership is not via buying shares but by place of origin.

How can my voice be represented in GHR?

Answer:
Your voice will be represented via your cultural groups or association for all Southern Cameroonians.  Other service user’s voices will be head via their respective group leaders who will intend channel the concerns to the board for proper redress. The GA will ensure that all matters are addressed in real-time as we are customer-focus in our approach.

Who is the supreme decision maker in GHR?

Answer:
The GA, which represents the views of associations that own GHR, is the supreme decision making organ of GHR.

How is GHR board and executive members selected?

Answer:
Each of the associations that collectively own GHR sends two delegates to the GA. Every member of GA is eligible to vote or be voted for during elections for the board of directors.

What information would I need when I am applying for enrollment?

Answer:
Names (as in official documents), date of birth, current address and phone number.

What documents are needed to claim benefits?

Answer:
Death Certificate, next-of-kin, proof of current residency, a photo, and completed GHR-Canada forms for financial support.

When can I enrol to GHR-Canada?

Answer:
You can enrol in GHR anytime through your association.

When is an active adherent eligible to benefit?

Answer:
Each new registration has a waiting period of 3 months from the date the new registration is approved.

What are the benefits of belonging to this scheme?

Answer:
GHR-Canada is inclusive and covers everyone, including people who have decided to be buried in other parts of the world.

What factors can affect someone from receiving benefits through GHR-Canada?

Answer:
Lack of proper documents to prove residency or death of a member. GHR-Canada will work with the bereaved family and the group to ensure that every active member receives the benefit at death.

Are contributions made for the sole purpose of covering funeral expenses or it can be used by the beneficiary/beneficiaries for other purposes?

Answer:
Contributions are made towards the death of an active adherent to the next-of -kin and the intent is to help cover some of the funeral cost.

Is Individual Enrollment Possible?

Answer:
Individuals can enroll only through an affiliated group. If you live in an area without a group, consider recruiting 10 members for the sole purpose of enrolling into GHR-Canada. The administrators and administrative assistant will be happy to help you.

Can someone else take out this insurance program on my behalf?

Answer:
Enrollment is through affiliated groups and the decision of who can enroll or not should be based on the internal regulations of the group. It is recommended for groups to encourage families to enroll all its members, even if only one member belongs to the group
